Morse
Hardwoods is committed to responsible timber harvesting
and forest sustainability, so generations to come
can enjoy both the beauty of our country's forests
and the natural wood products that come from them.
The lumber producers we buy from share our concern
for the environment
and practice sustainable forestry techniques in their
timber harvesting.
Being good stewards of the forest also
means maximizing the use of every tree. We carefully
plan our cutting and wood product use so virtually
every part of the log is utilized, resulting in very
little waste.
Renewable
resource
Hardwood forests naturally reproduce, and responsible
management of the forests allows regeneration to occur
at nature's own pace. Responsible harvesting
includes selecting individual trees for harvest, so
forests can renew and replenish themselves.
In the U.S., approximately twice as
much hardwood grows each year than is harvested, according
to the Hardwood Council. This has resulted in a hardwood
volume that is 90 percent greater than it was only
50 years ago.
Planning for the future
As a fifth-generation Vermont family that first started
in the lumber business in the early 1900s, the owners
of Morse Hardwoods
are dedicated to the sustainability of American hardwood
forests. Responsible harvesting and timber use will
ensure the long-term availability of hardwoods and
that the beautiful products made from them are available
for many more generations.
